“NIITEKHIM”: in Russia there are more than 2 thousand P&V-plants

“Institute for Technical and Economic Research” (“NIITEKhIM”) in the course of work on the “road map” for the development of the paint and varnish industry specified the data on the number of paint manufacturers, the “Bulletin of the Chemical Industry” reports.

According to the director general of the institute Salavat Aminev, the paint is produced by 2,200 enterprises.

As noted by Aminev, official statistics takes little account of representatives of small businesses, which affected the final result.

In the country there are 1259 manufacturers according to official data. At the same time, a large part of the production of paints and varnishes belongs to microenterprises. Large and medium-sized factories produce 6.1% of paints, small – 12.5%.

During the work on the project, the data was corrected.

“It turns out that the production of coatings is established at 2,200 enterprises, with the share of large and medium-sized enterprises accounting for only 4.5%. Thus, to strengthen the capacity of the sub-sector, where the most significant growth in the chemical complex has been observed in recent years, a number of measures are needed to support the small and micro business, “Salavat Aminev said.

By the way, in June 2017 the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia determined the developer of the plan for the development of the paint and varnish industry for the period until 2025. The competition for 3.5 million rubles was won by NIITEKHIM. It is expected that the document will appear in early 2018.
