Russian paint and varnich workers increased output by 35.2% in February 2018, as Rosstat reported.

The increase in volumes of output occurred against the background of the fall in industrial production by 2% from the beginning of the year.

Compared with February 2017 industrial production grew by 1.5%, with the same period last year (January-February) – by 2.2%. The output indicators fell due to the fuel and energy complex. Production of gasoline, gas and other fuels decreased on average from the type of products from 4.2% to 14.3%. The production of electricity, steam and water also fell.

On the contrary, machine builders, in February, increased output of cars: by 10.6%, freight cars by 22.9%, buses by 2.2 times. The increase in production of machinery has become one of the factors of the positive dynamics of the paint and varnish industry.

For January-February, the enterprises gave the market 112 thousand tons of paint and varnish goods, which is 0.7% more than the same period last year. In February, the output was 67.5 thousand tons – 35.2% more than January and + 0.6% by February 2017.

Thus, since the beginning of 2018 there has been an increase in the production of varnish-and-paint materials based on polymers at a rate of 1% by 2017. The projected output may reach 860 thousand tonnes.
