Paint and varnish workers can suspend production for the World Cup 2018

For the time of the World Cup, hundreds of enterprises in Russia can suspend work, including companies that produce paint and varnish materials.

This is reported by “Kommersant” referring to a letter received by one of the heads of the chemical plant of the Nizhny Novgorod region.

According to the publication, the Federal Security Service (FSB) began sending relevant notifications to manufacturers. The basis for the introduction of measures – Presidential Decree of May 9, 2017

“On the specifics of the use of enhanced security measures during the FIFA 2018 World Cup in the Russian Federation”.

As follows from the document, special security measures are introduced in the territories of Kazan, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Ekaterinburg, Volgograd, Samara, Rostov-on-Don, Saransk, Sochi and Kaliningrad. They concern the regime of citizens’ stay, the entry of transport and the work of enterprises.

“Suspend in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, in the territories of which enhanced security measures are introduced, the activities of hazardous industries and organizations using ionizing radiation sources, hazardous chemical and biological substances, radioactive, toxic and explosive substances,” the Decree notes.

As Kommersant notes, the Rostov company Empils received notices from the FSB. However, it is not yet known to suspend production of one of the largest manufacturers of paintwork materials.

“We do not give comments on this topic”, – Roman Bevs, the head of the public relations department of Empils, told “LKM Portal” journalist.

Also not yet ready to comment on the situation at the Yekaterinburg paint and varnish enterprise “VMP”.

Nevertheless, a source in the FSB confirmed to RBC agency about the suspension of hazardous production “under the presidential decree on enhanced security measures.” Now the FSB workers are in correspondence with the heads of enterprises about the definition of the mode of work for the World Cup 2018.
